Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is soil conditioner?
Soil conditioner is an organic material added to soil to improve fertility, texture, and structure. Our conditioner is made from straw-based horse manure, which enriches soil with nutrients and improves its ability to retain moisture.

2. What is soil conditioner used for?
It’s used to:

  • Boost fertility for vegetable plots, shrubs, and borders

  • Improve poor, tired, or sandy soils

  • Break up heavy clay soils

  • Retain moisture and encourage root growth

  • Naturally improve the colour and vitality of flowers, fruit, and veg

3. What size are your bulk bags of soil conditioner?
Each bulk bag contains approximately 900 litres (depending on moisture content).

4. Are your bulk bags returnable?
No – bulk bags are non-returnable. However, we recommend reusing or recycling them for garden waste, composting, or storage.

5. How do you deliver? Can you lift bags over fences or walls?
We deliver Monday–Saturday across Essex using our fleet of Hiab vehicles.

  • Smaller Hiabs available for tight access

  • Larger vehicles can deliver multiple bags in one trip

  • Delivery is kerbside as standard. At the driver’s discretion, bags may be lifted over walls or fences if safe.

  • Low branches or overhead wires may restrict access.

6. How and when should I use soil conditioner?
Soil conditioner can be applied all year round, but it’s particularly effective before planting seasons.

  • Clear your soil of debris, weeds, and stones

  • Till the soil to a depth of 4–5 inches

  • Spread the conditioner evenly and mix into the soil

  • Water well to activate nutrients

7. How long does soil conditioner last?
The benefits last for around 12–18 months depending on soil type and conditions. For best results, reapply annually to keep soil fertile and healthy.
