Grano Dust – Bulk Bags Delivered Across Essex.

Grano dust (also called granite dust) is a fine aggregate produced by crushing granite rock. It typically consists of particles ranging from dust-sized material up to about 4–6 mm, giving it a gritty texture that compacts very well.

What does grano dust look like?

  • Fine grey, blue-grey, or greenish crushed stone.
  • Much finer than gravel but coarser than sand.
  • Usually supplied as a 0–4 mm .
  •

Common Uses of Grano Dust

1. Base for Artificial Grass

One of its most popular uses is as a levelling and compacting layer beneath artificial turf. It creates a stable, free-draining surface that helps prevent dips and unevenness.

2. Paving and Patio Installation

Grano dust is often used:

  • Under paving slabs and stone flags.
  • As a bedding layer.
  • To fill joints between slabs in some applications.

3. Floor Screeds and Fine Concrete

When mixed with cement (and sometimes sand), grano dust produces a dense, smooth screed or fine concrete. This is commonly used for:

  • Garage floors
  • Industrial floors
  • Levelling surfaces before floor finishes are installed.

4. Driveways and Pathways

Because it compacts tightly, it can be used as a sub-base for:

  • Paths
  • Driveways
  • Hard landscaping projects.

5. Construction and Utility Work

Builders use grano dust for:

  • Manhole benching and haunching.
  • Filling voids and creating smooth slopes.
  • Providing a hard, level finish in construction projects.

Advantages

  • Excellent compaction.
  • Good drainage.
  • Durable and hard-wearing.
  • Creates a smooth, level surface.
  • Relatively inexpensive compared with some specialist aggregates.

Important Note

Grano dust compacts firmly but does not normally "set" like concrete on its own. If a hard, cement-like finish is required, it must be mixed with cement or another binding agent.
